Good morning, PetCloud family.
This week I've been sitting with something that doesn't have a clean name. It's the quiet after. The moment when the urgency of grief softens — not because the love is less, but because the body finally catches its breath.
If you've lost a pet recently, you may know this feeling. The house is the same. The light still comes through the window at the same angle. But something has shifted in the texture of ordinary moments.
This Week's Prompt
Find a quiet place — five minutes is enough.
Write about a small, ordinary thing your pet loved. Not the grand memories. The tiny ones.
The way they always chose the same corner of the couch. The sound of their nails on the kitchen floor. The specific weight of them settling in beside you at the end of a long day.
Ordinary things carry the most love. They're the ones that catch us off guard on a Tuesday afternoon.
A Note on Grief's Rhythm
Grief doesn't move in a straight line. Some weeks it roars. Some weeks it hums quietly in the background. Both are real. Both are valid.
If this week is loud for you — that's okay. You don't have to journal. You can just be here.
If this week is quieter — welcome it. Let yourself write. Let yourself remember without it needing to mean anything more than: I loved them.
Take care of yourselves this week. 🐾
